Good leadership forms the basis of any successful business. Without good people leading teams within your brand, there would be no productivity, no inspiration and little or no motivation. As a leader could you be failing the business and/or your team in any of the following ways?
1. You’re ignoring your moral compass
We all have our own individual ethics and values built up over our lifetime. Everyone has a different moral compass as everyone has led a different life.
Using your moral compass to form part of your decision-making process allows you to make ethical decisions and consider the effects that those decisions will have both on the business and individuals.
It’s easy for a moral compass to become corrupted by the environment in which a leader works. Pressure, personal gain and preferences between individuals can all contribute to a moral compass being ignored.

Staying true to your belief in what is the ‘right decision’ will enable you to take all factors into consideration and base your decisions on what is best for all those concerned.
2. You’re not committed enough
Without commitment and passion from a business leader where is the inspiration and motivation for employees to strive to do the best that they can in their role? A true leader will lead by example and inspire their team.
Leadership means that the buck will often stop with you. Having the drive and willingness to deal with uncomfortable or challenging situations is one trait of a great leader. While delegating is part of managing a team it’s also important to understand that sometimes it’s down to one person, you, to resolve an issue.

As a leader, you also have an obligation to your team members. Ensuring that they’re flourishing in their role, are happy as an employee and engaged with the business is part of leadership that seems obvious but many seem to ignore or forget.
Regular team, and individual, discussions should be scheduled to both share ideas and solve business challenges but also ensure that any problems are dealt with before they escalate.
3. You’re lacking integrity
According to a survey by Robert Half Management Resources, both employees and leaders consider integrity among executives as a priority with the majority considering it the most important leadership quality.
A good leader can motivate and inspire others to achieve organisational goals through their own behaviour and interaction with others. Leading by example helps to instil values and integrity throughout a brand.
Integrity is possibly the most important element of good leadership. A leader with integrity naturally builds trust with his or her team and the business as a whole.

Leaders with integrity are consistent, honest, moral and trustworthy. They do what they say they’ll do.
They’ll also speak up for what’s right, whether that’s defending the company to a customer or an employee to a senior manager.
