Sion Lewis, CEO of HR, payroll and benefits software provider Ciphr, has been selected as a finalist for CEO of the Year (under £50m) at this year’s Thames Valley 250 Awards.

The awards recognise outstanding individuals, teams and organisations, and are only open to the top 250 privately-owned companies (ranked by turnover) in the Thames Valley region. They are hotly contested and boast a rigorous, independent judging process.

Sion Lewis, Ciphr’s CEO, says: “It’s such an honour to be shortlisted for this award. The last year has been a momentous one for the Ciphr team – from enhancing and expanding our product suite to relocating our headquarters to Reading and making two strategic acquisitions. I’m really proud of what we’ve already achieved together, and I’m really excited about the opportunities that lie ahead, as we continue our growth journey to becoming one of the UK’s top technology companies.

Under Lewis’ leadership, Ciphr has more than doubled the number of organisations that now use its people management solutions. Over 1,400 organisations globally rely on the group’s cutting-edge HR, payroll, learning, recruitment and benefits software and services – up from over 600 at the beginning of 2024. Among them are Bensons for Beds, Bunzl, Haygrove, Crisis UK, Social Care Wales, Prudential, Barnardo's, Greater London Authority, the Church of England, Newcastle University, University of Oxford, University of Cambridge, the Irish Universities Association, Evri, Michelin, INEOS, Shutterstock, Perfetti Van Melle, Allpay, Covéa Insurance, and Jonas.

The Thames Valley 250 is compiled by The Business Magazine and Insider Media. The award winners will be announced later this month.
