Use team member’s strengths
Capitalising on your individual team members strengths should be your strategy when delegating responsibilities and tasks. Assigning the right tasks to the right people will not only get the job done efficiently but will also aid in maintaining interest and commitment from those involved. A team member who is enjoying, and is good at, the assignment they have been given will take more pride producing an end result of top quality.

Goals that all team members understand
A team that fully understands and is clear on the goals that they are working towards are able to work towards those goals as a unit. Even if each member has their separately assigned projects, they should understand how these projects fit into the team’s overall strategy and goals.
Before assigning individual team members tasks, ensure that everyone involved fully understands the objectives of the team as a whole, and how their particular goals fit into this.
Encouraging open communication and respect within the team is also important to ensure that ideas, issues and feedback are discussed in a professional manner. Reviewing how the team has performed to date will be most effective if it can be discussed in a calm and respectful way, especially if there are improvements to be made moving forward. Creating a ‘team’ area on your company intranet will encourage collaboration, especially if you have remote or flexible working employees.
Treat everyone as an individual
Each team member is an individual. Encouraging this individuality will utilise the full skill set from your team. Listening to everyone as an individual, rather than one voice of collective points of view and different experiences will all help to reach an agreed action or resolution. Individuals will inevitable disagree on certain points, this should be discussed and dealt with impartially to reach an outcome that is satisfactory to all those concerned.
Encourage a strong sense of unity
In order for a team culture to thrive (or even work) it is important that employees ‘feel’ that they are part of a team. Simply telling your employees that they are working in a team is not enough to convince them. Allow your employees input into the direction that the team will take for particular tasks and discuss these sensibly and constructively. Arrange for team-building exercises and encourage social activities to allow employees to get to know each other in a non-working environment.
