Employees pick local air ambulance service as one of two charities to support in 2019-20

As part of its commitment to give back to the wider community, Ciphr is proud to support Thames Valley Air Ambulance as its local charity partner for 2019-20.

Employees will be taking part in a number of charity activities across the year to support the ambulance service, as well as Ciphr’s chosen national charity partner, Cancer Research UK.

“It is no exaggeration to say that Ciphr is helping us to literally save lives on a daily basis,” says Samantha Collier, corporate partnerships manager at the Thames Valley Air Ambulance. The charity’s corporate relationships help it to “build innovative, long-term, engaging partnerships that make a real difference for everyone involved”, and continue to deliver its emergency care services across Buckinghamshire, Berkshire and Oxfordshire, she added.

In January this year, the Thames Valley Air Ambulance – which covers Berkshire, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire – was called out 216 times to help people in need of urgent critical care, and delivered advanced medical care to 129 patients.

One of Ciphr’s biggest fund-raising efforts to date was the Marlow Santa Fun Run on 1 December 2019, with the nine members of ‘Ciphr’s Santas’ raising more than £650. The sum was also matched by Ciphr’s fundraising matching scheme.

“These donations ensure we are here for the future,” says Collier. “We are called out on average seven times every day to the most critically ill or injured. Without the support of our local corporate partners like Ciphr, we would not be there for people when the worst happens .”
