There are little ways that you can easily adjust your behavior to improve your productivity motivation, personal brand, career prospects and be a better you. The best bit is that they can all be done today, easily and without too much effort!

1. Be on time

Being on time should be one of the simplest things to do, but so many people seem to struggle with it. Even on commutes that an individual does every day, some people still can’t manage to arrive on time.

The message given by those who are constantly late without good reason is that they’re disorganised, unable to plan efficiently or, even worse, simply don’t care.

Aiming to arrive for an appointment at the exact time it begins is the first mistake. If there’s any delay, no matter how small, then you’ll be late. Aiming to get to an appointment 20 minutes early will mean that, even with reasonable delays, you’ll still make it on time.

Being punctual shows that you’re conscientious, able to plan and respectful of arrangements made with others, whether that’s just getting to work on time or attending a specific meeting.

2. Be polite

Politeness should be a part of everyone’s nature and a trait instilled in them from an early age. Bad manners are all too evident in modern life, whether it’s the commute in the morning when people don’t give up their seat for more needy travelers than them, not holding the door open for a colleague or simply saying hello to those people you share the day with.

Treat everyone with the respect you would like to be treated with and you’ll soon notice the difference in how people perceive and interact with you.
Being seen as a polite and pleasant employee is also a great way to improve your personal brand and increase your chances of progressing your career.

3. Be happy

Happiness is contagious. If you’re the person in the office that lifts everyone’s spirits, then you’ll naturally start to evolve into a leader.
Leadership qualities are what employers are looking out for to drive and nurture talent within the business.

Being happy at work makes it easier for you to collaborate and work with your colleagues. You’ll be more approachable and people will feel more comfortable and at ease when working on projects.
Honesty plays a key role in successful collaboration and if your colleagues see you as an upbeat person, they’ll be more likely to raise concerns, voice their opinion or debate a point.

Like happiness, enthusiasm is a quality that brands are looking out for in their employees. Being enthusiastic and enthusing others around you will help to create a culture of motivation and inspiration, great for any business.

Being enthusiastic gets things done too. If you, and those around you, are raring to go on a project then you’ll just get on with it and work together towards the common goal.

5. Be helpful

If you’re the one seen as the ‘go-to guy’ by colleagues and peers, then you start to build trust and respect throughout the company.
You shouldn’t be helping colleagues purely with the intention of furthering your career, however if people are thankful then they’ll have more time for you and be willing to assist you in the future.

Helping others with their tasks and projects also leads to learning new skills and widening your knowledge of different areas of the business.

6. Be respectful

Respecting people’s time and boundaries, as well as respecting them as individuals, will also not go unrewarded. Building a reputation as someone who knows how to interact with others in a thoughtful manner helps your career in a number of areas:
